Today, there are thousands of hours of historical media content stored away in vaults on video tape. The fact is, there are more tapes in the world than there are machines available to transfer them. Content that exists only on magnetic tape is fast becoming obsolete due to tape degradation or the lack of tape machines supported in a given format. When all of the decks of a given format are worn out, or your tape degrades to the point when the data can no longer be accessed, that content is lost forever.
Now is the time to start digital archiving of your media collection. Without a preservation strategy, your content will simply expire.
Join us as we answer your questions regarding required hardware, best formats and containers, and best types of storage, to help you create a strategy that will result in safely preserving your media collections.
